What's Included

This pack contains 12 pages of practice: 2 pages on identifying proportional relationships in tables, 2 pages on identifying proportional relationships in graphs, 2 pages on writing equations y = kx, 2 pages on solving proportional word problems, 2 pages on comparing proportional relationships, 1 mixed review page, and 1 challenge page for early finishers.

Skills Covered

Determining if a table shows a proportional relationship by checking constant ratios. Identifying proportional graphs by testing the origin and straight line. Writing equations in y = kx form and identifying k. Solving word problems involving speed, unit price, and scaling. Comparing two proportional relationships to find the larger k.

Standards Alignment

This pack aligns with 7.RP.A.2 (recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities) and its sub-standards 7.RP.A.2a through 7.RP.A.2d, which cover tables, graphs, equations, and real-world proportional problems.

Sample Problems

Table Check

Determine if this table is proportional: x=2,y=6; x=4,y=12; x=6,y=18; x=8,y=24

Answer: Yes. 6÷2=3, 12÷4=3, 18÷6=3, 24÷8=3. k=3. Equation: y=3x.

Graph Check

A line passes through (0,0), (3,9), and (5,15). Is it proportional? Find k.

Answer: Yes. 9÷3=3, 15÷5=3. k=3.

Word Problem

A car travels 180 miles in 3 hours at a constant speed. How far will it travel in 5 hours?

Answer: Speed = 180÷3 = 60 mph. In 5 hours: 60×5 = 300 miles.
